As we reflect on the year 2020, the Azerbaijan Social Work Public Union (AZSWPU) takes pride in its endeavours, achievements, and contributions to the field of social work. Despite the unprecedented challenges faced globally, AZSWPU remained resilient, dedicated, and impactful throughout the year.

May 6th 2020: Aytakin Huseynli, a member of the Governing Body of AZSWPU and the creator and broadcaster of the Social Work Podcast in Turkey, joined forces with Umut Yanardag to initiate a series of podcasts in Azerbaijan. We are delighted to present the first of these discussions, which focused on Child Welfare.

May 20th 2020: The Azerbaijani Social Work Society organised a webinar titled “The Role of Social Protection in the Fight Against Pandemic,” featuring Lami Rzayeva.

June 1st 2020: Webinar: “Child Protection and U.S. Model” featuring Aytakin Hussein.

June 19th 2020: “Social Work with Individuals Excluded from the Social Protection Sphere” presented by Elvin Muradov.

July 14th 2020: “Child Development and Well-being” presented by Laura Johnson.

July 11th – 13th 2020:

The Azerbaijani Social Work Association (AZSIB) proudly represented Azerbaijan at the Two-year General Assembly of the International Federation of Social Workers. Sadri Sabine Rustamova-Aliyeva, representing both the organisation and the country, actively participated in the selection of a new federation team. The assembly provided a platform for discussions on crucial social issues worldwide and explored the Global Agenda on social development.

August 6th 2020: Webinars were organised as part of the project “Development of Community-based School Education.”

October 7th 2020: “Enhancing Mental and Social Conditions During Wartime” presented by Ahmet Jamil Cecher.

November 13th 2020: The BSIF hosted a webinar titled “Social Workers Working in the War and Conflict Areas of Europe.” Azerbaijan’s representation was led by Aytakin Huseynli, a member of the Governing Body of the Azerbaijani Social Work Association. During the webinar, he highlighted the social programs and services available in Azerbaijan for individuals affected by war. This informative session attracted participants from 10 countries, with an impressive turnout of 120 attentive listeners from 44 different countries.
