Reflecting on the strides made in 2021, the Azerbaijan Social Work Public Union (AZSWPU) proudly reminisces about a year filled with meaningful initiatives, impactful collaborations, and strides in the realm of social work. Throughout the past year, AZSWPU played a pivotal role in fostering knowledge exchange, professional development, and community engagement, contributing significantly to the social welfare landscape in Azerbaijan.

As we look back on this transformative year, we express gratitude for the support of our members, partners, and the community at large. The information presented below encapsulates the essence of AZSWPU’s journey in 2021.

January 8th 2021: On January 8, 2021, the Azerbaijani Social Work Society hosted a live broadcast. The presentation, themed “Services for the Psychological and Social Effects of War,” was conducted by Aytakin Huseynli and Shabnam Saparova.

January 27th 2021: On January 27, 2021, a website event titled “Military Social Work in the United States” took place. The session on U.S. military social work was led by Linda Schuh.

September 19th 2021: The film’s subjects encompassed horse-drawn wagons and early-model automobiles. The focal point of our discussion was the film “Detachment.” Prior to the meeting, attendees were encouraged to watch the film attentively and take note of the nuances they wished to share with their colleagues.

September 23rd 2021: Ilham Rehimov, Maftun Ismailova, and Tamilla Elizabeth participated in the event on September 23, which was titled “Social-Psychological and Legal Approach to Juvenile Courts.”

September 27th 2021: On September 27, our guest, Avaz Hasanov, Chairman of the Society for Humanitarian Studies, attended our event titled “The Social Environment of War.”

November 16th-17th: The conference, organized by the Department of Social Sciences and Psychology at Baku State University and the Azerbaijani Society for Social Work (AZSWU), took place on November 16-17, 2021.

October 8th-10th 2021: The International Federation of Social Workers conducted an online Zoom meeting known as the European Delegation Meeting (DM) 2021 on October 8, 9, and 10. During the meeting, our country was represented by Sabine Rustamova, Chairman of the Azerbaijani Social Work Society, Aytakin Huseynli, a member of the governing body, and Sanaan Agaveh, Executive Director of the union.

October 15th 2021: The event, titled “Talking Hands,” was conducted on October 15, 2021, by the Azerbaijani Social Work Society (AZSIB) to explore the nuances of body language. The session featured Cologne Quliyeva and Shamil Sabirzadeh as presenters.

October 23rd 2021: The meeting, held on October 23, 2021, brought together the Azerbaijani Social Work Society and our esteemed foreign guest, Dania Odeh. Currently working at the Azraq refugee camp in Jordan, Dania’s expertise sheds light on the challenges faced by refugees affected by conflict in the Middle East.

November 7th 2021:

The webinar, titled “Effect on Stressful Life,” was conducted on November 7, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. by the Azerbaijani Social Work Society (AZSIB). The session featured Deniz Umarova, a psychologist and teacher at Baku State University, and Sanan Agayev.

December 29th 2021: A lesson titled “Social Work Education in the United States” was conducted. The session was facilitated by Foster Ezeyer Shefiyev, the director of the U.S. Department of Social Work, and organized by AZSIB. Aytakin Hussein, a researcher and member of the University of Washington, D.C., delivered a master’s lesson on the history of social work education in the United States. Participants had the opportunity to explore and find answers to questions of interest.
